Section 3: Technology needs, IT and cloud solutions
While the majority feel that their technology system will meet needs over time, only 11% have less confidence. Also, you’ll see in the following charts, a move to cloud is in consideration in over a third of respondents and new software purchases are being considered by over 25% of respondents. 77% of respondents feel confident in the cloud system and 38% of those feel very confident.
Our research reveals that new considerations of cloud solutions, new security concerns, and growth in technology needs over the next 12-18 months is important. In particular with 2021, and over 55% respondents still estimated to be working from home having a system that is flexible as well as fraud preventative and accident and disaster focused is still a key need.
86% of survey participants are very confident and somewhat confident that their technology systems can meet their needs over time as their organization grows.
A move to the cloud is being considered by 34% of organizations. 28% are considering the purchase of new software. Bringing IT in-house or outsourcing IT are being considered by much fewer organizations within the next 12-18 months.
Our research revealed a high degree of interest in having a robust, effective fund accounting system, HR system and donor and volunteer tracking were of concern to all respondents. Over 34% of the organizations surveyed were considering a move to the cloud, with 28% considering new software purchases. These data points reveal that technology is an ongoing concern as we move into 2021 and for planning in the next 12-18 months.
Data also revealed that over 77% of respondents feel confident in the security of a cloud-based solution in storing financial data. 38% of those people are very confident.
Around half of the study participants believe with some degree more likely to adopt a cloud-based solution now than 12-18 months ago.
When making decisions on bringing IT in-house, cost is a top concern followed by the complexity of technology.
While 62% of organizations have outsourced IT at least in part, one-in-three have not at all.
