Judy Melton, Office Manager and Town Clerk for Town of Rising Sun, Maryland, shared her insights and challenges with the town's journey from manual workarounds, decentralized systems, and staffing constraints to seamless integration of all critical financials and databases .
After a decade of outsourcing all city accounting processes, the Town of Rising Sun's Judy Melton was determined to find a system that internal staff could implement. The city needed a versatile, easy to learn and implement, well-supported accounting system.
With MIP, the town was able to empower reporting efficiency, reduce reliance on outside accounting professionals and have a cloud-based system that will serve them in the future. Since implementing, they gained greater reporting flexibility, superb data integration and key budget reconciliations. They also enjoy consistent and solid support and ongoing MIP customer support for module education.

In 1720, Henry Reynolds established a stone tavern on Nottingham Lot No. 17 to serve as a stage stop. Over the entrance was a swinging sign depicting the rays of the sun at dawn and the lettering THE RISING SUN. It was around this busy tavern that the village of Summer Hill began to grow.
The town was incorporated in 1860 and currently is home to over 3000 close-knit residents.
